Parents are actively encouraged to be part of the school community. We value parents’ involvement in their child's learning and provide numerous opportunities for engagement. These include:
- Open Morning
- Dad’s Night
- Presentation Day
- Classroom Support
- Communication Diary
- Community Involvement/Performances
- Parents & Friends Meetings
- Kindergarten Parent Meetings
We value and appreciate parent help in the classroom. Parents are encouraged to support class programs in a variety of ways including reading programs, craft etc. Teachers invite parents to support class programs early in Term 1.
As per DoE requirements parents/volunteers must have a current RWVP card. Parents/volunteers are to complete the sign in/sign out register at the office when arriving and leaving the school.
Parent Education Opportunities
The school Home-school Liaison Officer organises opportunities for parents and local community members to engage with adult education and training services to develop and expand their knowledge base and skill set. This exemplifies our core value of lifelong learning.
The School Association, with representation from Parent, Staff and Community, support the Principal and Senior Staff in providing school directions, uniform policy and procedure in the school.
School Association Meetings are held six times a year on Tuesday afternoons.
Parents and Friends Association Incorporated
The Parents and Friends Association meets on the first Tuesday each month. The meetings are held at 7.00pm in the school staffroom. As the Association is incorporated a membership fee of $5.00 per family is paid. This payment is a voluntary membership and is due at the beginning of the school year when levies are paid. Paid members have the right to vote.
The P&F Annual General Meeting is open to all paid up members and is held in April.
The primary role of the P&F is fundraising. The P&F also support key events throughout the year such as the late night Parent-Teacher Conversation evening and Grade 6 End of Year Luncheon.
The Kindergarten Parents and Friends meet each month. The time and day is usually based on what suits the majority of people seeking to be involved. It is held at the conclusion of the Kindergarten day.
Learning in Families Together (LiFT)
As a LiFT school we are committed to engaging parents in the education of their children both in the school setting and through making the most of every day opportunities in the home and community. A key aspect of LiFT is the concept that learning takes place everywhere!
Working with parents to support their children’s learning at school in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy is one focus. The second focus is working with parents to enable them to support their children’s learning outside the formal educational setting.
